What Is The Cost For Filing A Trademark Application?

by Raymond Millien on November 25, 2009

The U.S. government filing fee for a trademark application varies from $275-$325.

Most firms, however, charge clients a flat fee ranging of approximately $1000 in order to perform a preliminary search to make sure the mark is available for registration, prepare the application (i.e., draft the description of the good(s) or service(s) to be covered by the mark), and file it electronically with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Are there any discounted filing fee costs to small businesses for filing a Trademark like there are for patents?
If so how long does it take to receive this consideration and how does one go about applying?
